June 20 – 25, 2021

A week of instruction in music from the mountains, in the mountains…virtually!

36405916_1853296194729795_2733368215680843776_nThe Cowan Creek Mountain Music School invites you to our annual summer music camp–online this year to protect our elders and vulnerable community members. We have been planning away to bring you some high-quality classes and cultural experiences in spite of our physical distance, and we can’t wait to share this year’s offerings with you!
At virtual CCMMS, you’ll…
*Learn essential tunes from the Eastern Kentucky repertoire using the call-and-response method. You’ll start slowly, by learning the bones of the tunes, and finish with style points and embellishments to take your playing to the next level.
*Discover some of the key mountain players who have influenced generations of Kentucky music.
*Connect with Kentucky’s finest teachers and tradition-bearers!
*Jam in afternoon sessions led by your teachers in trios and quartets so you can hear all the parts.
*Take deep dives into the history and culture of the music or maybe pick up a new skill at our one-off workshop smorgasbord!
*Hear old favorites plus old tunes that are new to you at our faculty concerts.
