Cowan Community Center presents…
June 19-23, 2023
Based in a small Appalachian community just outside Whitesburg, Kentucky, for the 22nd year our summer school brings together some of our country’s finest old time musicians and students of all levels and ages for a week of learning and fun. Our emphasis is on offering old time music and songs from the Kentucky repertoire, taught by musicians who are the heart of our music community.
What you need to know:
Tuition for Kentucky students is $250 and $350 for out-of-state students and includes a morning class, plus access to all workshops, jams, concerts, lunch and other activities during the week. Kids on the Creek, a hands on music and arts class for 5 to 10 year olds is $250 and all Kentucky kids are provided full scholarships- just click the button for a scholarship ticket when you register. Also, full scholarships are available for all youth ages 22 and younger and for adults if needed. Register for all classes and scholarships online by clicking HERE. If you have any questions or problems with registration contact Stacy Dollarhide at cowancreekmountainmusic@gmail.com or call her at the Cowan Community Center: (606) 633-3187. Also contact Stacy if you would rather pay by check than online. She’ll be glad to here from you!
What if the class you want is full?
Don’t despair. Intermediate and advanced level students in any string instrument can still learn new tunes and more in the Old Time String Band class. If you are needing a beginner or early intermediate class that is full, let Stacy know. If there are enough requests we may be able to offer a second section of your class.
GOOD NEWS! We have just added another Beginner Guitar class taught by Karly Dawn Milner. If you were unable to register because it was full, you can register starting Monday, May 8th!
