Hailing from Northeast Tennessee, Roxanne McDaniel is heavily informed by her lived experiences in rural Appalachia. Her musical influences, however, run the gamut of styles and traditions.
A graduate of the East Tennessee State University’s Bluegrass program, her music combines elements of folk, country, Celtic, blues, rock, and pop to weave a diverse tapestry of instrumental pieces, storytelling, and reflection.
In addition to her songwriting, her playing ability has gained her recognition from the likes of NPR, Dulcimer Players News, and Rolling Stone. In 2023, she was the recipient of a Tradition Bearers Fellowship through Central Appalachian Living Traditions. She is an instructor at The McKinney Center in Historic Jonesborough, Tennessee. Most recently, she has become the host of “Outside the Box” a weekly radio program on WBCM Radio Bristol.
